Terms of Service

By creating an account or using any part of the service you confirm you are at least 13 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

Chord Companion provides a progressive web application (“the App”) for exploring and saving musical chord progressions, voicings, and lyric arrangements. The App is available free of charge in ad-supported mode and may offer an ad-free subscription tier.

• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
• You must notify us immediately at admin@chord-companion.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behaviour.

Any chord progressions, lyrics, arrangements, or other musical content you create (“Your Content”) remains entirely yours. We claim no ownership or intellectual- property rights over Your Content.

By syncing Your Content to our servers you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence solely to store and transmit it for the purpose of delivering the sync feature to you. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.

We will never use Your Content to train machine-learning models, sell it, or share it with third parties.

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to violate any applicable law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code.
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the App by automated means.
• Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt or damage systems.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or our underlying infrastructure.
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service for others.

The free tier is ad-supported via Google AdSense. Ads are served by Google and are governed by Google's advertising policies. You may opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.

Ad-free access may be granted via a paid subscription or a qualifying QR session. Pricing and entitlements are subject to change with reasonable notice.

All App code, design, branding, chord data, audio samples, and UI elements are the property of Chord Companion and its licensors. Nothing in these terms grants you a right to use our trademarks, logos, or other proprietary materials outside the App.

Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chord Companion and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, sections 4 (Your Content), 7 (Intellectual Property), 9 (Disclaimers), and 10 (Limitation of Liability) survive.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will notify you in-app before material changes take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware unless otherwise agreed in writing.
