Privacy Policy

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information — when you sign in with Google or Facebook we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider. We store this to identify your account and nothing more.
• Your musical content — chord progressions, section names, voicings, lyric text, and sheet-line arrangements you create in the Chord Blender. This data belongs to you.
• Preferences — colour scheme, ad-supported mode setting, and similar in-app choices are stored locally and, if you are signed in, synced to our server so your settings follow you across devices.
• Basic analytics— anonymised event names (e.g. “progression saved”) to help us understand which features are useful. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.

• To authenticate you and keep your progressions synced across devices.
• To display ads in ad-supported mode via Google AdSense.
• To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.
• To respond to support enquiries you send us.

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your musical content to any third party.

The progressions, lyrics, and arrangements you create are yours. We store them solely to provide the sync feature. We do not claim any ownership, licence, or rights to your creative work. We will never use your compositions, chord sequences, or lyrics to train machine-learning models or share them with third parties. Only you can share your work with third parties.

• Google Sign-In / Facebook Sign-In — used for authentication only. We do not receive your passwords.
• Google AdSense — serves ads in ad-supported mode. AdSense may use cookies to personalise ads. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com. Going Ad-Free removes all AdSense scripts from the page.

We use browser local storage and IndexedDB to store your progressions and preferences offline. These never leave your device unless you are signed in, in which case the data is synced to our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

No tracking or advertising cookies are set by Chord Companion itself. AdSense may set its own cookies only when ad-supported mode is active.

Your account and all associated data (progressions, preferences) are retained for as long as you have an account. You can request full deletion at any time by emailing us at admin@chord-companion.com. We will permanently delete your data within 30 days of a verified request.

All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are never stored — authentication is handled entirely by Google and Facebook. We apply reasonable technical safeguards but no system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password for your Google or Facebook account.

Chord Companion is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
